Lawaan is a 4th class municipality in the province of Capiz, Philippines. According to the 2006 census, it has a population of 9,752 people in 1,321 households.

Lawaan was once known as a Baranggay of fishpond because it was once surrounded with hectares of Bangus and King Crab fish ponds.

After the fall of the fish production in 1978, Lawaan slowly became a rice field.

Lawaan is a particular place found in Roxas City Capiz, where Hercor College is located.

Lawaan was once just a simple baranggay, but because of its location along the highway, it was developed into a commercial and residential spot.

Since 1982 to 1995, Lawaan has but one school, Lawaan Elementary School. But came the year 1998, Lawaan was slowly developing into an ideal spot for school. Three schools emerged:Lawaan High School, DAVE College and HERCOR College.

Lawaan is a peaceful place because its a bit far from the city. Only few vehicles drive here. The roadside is covered with lush trees and vegetations. That is why Lawaan is an ideal for spot for schools.

Future plans are now spreading all throughout Lawaan.

Buildings and establishments are now opening.
